Trader Joe’s Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting Reviews

Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting: 8.5/10

🚨NEW ITEM🚨 If you guys know me, you know I LOVE carrot cake. When #Traderjoes comes out with a new carrot cake, I have to give it a try. I believe this one was an old discontinued item that has made a comeback! This was overall a great carrot cake – the cake had a nice flavor that wasn’t overly spice filled like some carrot cakes can be and it was pretty dense and moist which I enjoyed. There were also no walnuts mixed in, but walnut meal which I prefer over having actual whole nuts in the cake! It had a nice frosting to cake ratio which I feel like some of the Trader Joe’s baked items struggle with. I do wish the icing was sweeter and had less of a gummy, sticky texture. If you’ve had the carrot cake bundt cakes, that frosting would’ve been perfect on this cake! While good, I don’t think it quite had that wow factor to get into the 9’s. Also, I found the packaging to be difficult and I couldn’t get the lid back on after opening it up. So, I guess I just had to finish it in one sitting 😉It’s $4.99 for this cake.

Have you tried this yet? What do you think?

  1. Carrot cake is my all time favorite. Not sure if I got a bad batch, but this cake was way to “earthy” for me and tasted like the carrots were picked and shredded without being washed. 🤢

  2. I didn’t find it dry, I found it doughy or gummy, even the frosting. Frosting not overly sweet, but just sweet enough so I would like it. I have a sweet tooth and prefer sweet cream cheese frosting. I hate cream cheese frosting that tastes more like cream cheese. Had enough spice, not too bland. No chewy bits like nuts or pineapple. Ok, not my fav. Not sure I would get again.
