Trader Joe’s Carolina Gold BBQ Potato Chips Review

Carolina Gold BBQ Potato Chips: 8/10

🚨NEW ITEM🚨 The first thing you need to know about Carolina BBQ is that it is heavy on the mustard. These BBQ chips didn’t taste like the traditional, smoky BBQ flavor I’m used to tasting on chips. To sum it up, they tasted almost identical to a honey mustard pretzel in chip form with a touch of vinegar. I really enjoyed this unique, sweet and tangy flavor! After the honey mustard pretzel pieces were discontinued, I’ve been missing that flavor, so I’m glad these chips resembled it! The chips could use even more and more evenly distributed seasoning to be better, but were still delicious. The ridge cut added a great texture and I enjoyed how some of the chips were folded over making them even crunchier. Each bag is $2.29 and would be great on a sandwich (anyone else LOVE chips on their sandwiches? 🙋🏻‍♀️) or paired with an ice cold beer.

Have you tried these yet? What did you think?

  1. I’m not saying you are wrong, but … lol
As a huge fan of the “Carolina gold bbq” sauce, these chips are awesome. These aren’t supposed to be normal bbq chips they are supposed to be a BFF to the Carolina Gold. And they did 🙂

  2. As a southerner, born & raised in South Carolina, these are a 10/10 – they hit the mark! I could’ve eaten 10 bags… they are JUST like the Carolina gold BBQ sauce smothered on pulled pork sandwiches from my youth. 👏👏
