Trader Joe’s Ube Ice Cream Reviews

Ube Ice Cream: 8/10

It’s officially Ube season at #traderjoes and if you love this ice cream, stock up before it’s gone again! It’s made with purple yams that give it a creamy, nutty flavor. Even with its beautiful, bold purple color, I found the flavor of this ice cream to be incredibly subtle. It tastes almost like vanilla ice cream but with more depth and nuttiness. It also has a bit of a starchy texture from the yams while still being creamy. The coloring comes from grape, beet, and red cabbage extract which I love. I enjoyed this ice cream and it reminded me of red bean desserts I’ve had before. Now I’m so excited to try the ✨NEW✨ Ube shortbread cookies and am dreaming of the day that Trader Joe’s makes Ube Mochi ice creams! How good does that sound?? Each carton is $2.99.

Have you tried this yet? What do you think?

  1. LOVE this ice cream! I opened up the only container I had left from last year this week so I’m delighted it’s back. Unfortunately I’m moving this weekend and next and crashing somewhere for a month or two. Gotta find someone/someone’s that’ll help me stash 3 of these babies in their freezers to tide me through another year!😆
