Trader Joe’s Pollo Asado Reviews

Pollo Asado: 6.5/10

I keep having SUCH high hopes for Trader Joe’s marinated chicken because the chicken shawarma is one of my absolute all time favorite items from TJ’s. This one missed the mark for me. It was too citrusy for my taste, and even after following the cooking instructions it was dry and almost hard as a rock. After trying this, I would much rather marinate my own chicken for taco night. It is $5.99/lb.

Have you tried it yet? What do you think?

  1. I’m obsessed with this chicken, but I alwaaaaays cook this in a pressure cooker to make it a pulled chicken. I use chicken stock and add some extra spices to it. We do the same with the Carne Asada! I hope this helps 🙂

  2. @traderjoesfoodreviews I love this one. Youre right tho, dont follow directions on packaging. Cut it up into small pieces taco style. Then throw it into a hot pan with a little oil. Cook by site, when it looks cooked its cooked. Since they are small pieces it doesnt take much to cook. Throw on a salad, into some tortillas whatever you wish. Give it another shot my way.

  3. How did you cook it? I’ve broiled it which made it nice and crispy and it kept its moisture.
I will say the flavor isn’t the best, I added some garlic powder and red chili pepper flakes
