Cheese Empanadas with Cassava Crust: 7.5/10
🚨NEW ITEM🚨 One of my favorite parts about #TraderJoes is that it caters to every dietary need. They are constantly expanding on their gluten free options and this gluten free empanada is a great example of that! The Cassava Crust was the best part about this empanada. It tasted almost buttery and held its shape well without being crunchy. The filling was made with ricotta, mozzarella, caramelized onion, spinach, and salt and pepper. I liked how cheesy it was and the caramelized onions added a great flavor, but I felt like the filling was missing some thing. These would be even better with a touch more filling and a bit more seasoning like garlic and some spice to give them more depth of flavor. I air fried mine for 12 minutes at 375 flipping half way and loved the texture of the crust after air frying! Each box has two small empanadas for $2.99.
